RESEARCH
Sept. - Dec. 2021 Post-doctoral Researcher, CEFREM, CNRS - Université de Perpignan, France
Collaborators: Wolfgang Ludwig, Romain Jatiault and Philippe Kerhervé
- My current research activities aim to better understand the plastics cycle from their sources on land to their sinks in the marine environment with numerical modeling tools. Plastic Rhone project in collaboration with Plastic@Sea.
Oct. 2017 - March 2021 Ph.D. in Oceanography, CEFREM & LEGOS, Université de Perpignan, France
Advisors: Wolfgang Ludwig and Claude Estournel
- I developed a statistical model to correct and re-evaluate the microplastic fluxes discharged from the world's rivers into the oceans.
- I investigated the physical properties of microplastics sampled in rivers to get closer to a realistic vertical displacement in modeled ocean currents.
- I performed 3D lagrangian simulations of the dispersion of riverine microplastics in the Mediterranean basin.
- I analyzed the distribution of riverine microplastics in the Mediterranean sub-basins and the seasonal dispersion of the Rhone river plume.

OCEANOGRAPHIC CAMPAIGNS
April 2021 PERLE 4, 1 month, Eastern Mediterranean Sea
Head of mission: Mireille Pujo-Pay. Continuation of the PERLE cruises in the Eastern Mediterranean with a focus on the study of the dispersion of Levantine Intermediate Water. Water sample collection, filtration and conditioning.
August 2019 Tara Microplastics Expedition, 1 month, from the Bay of Biscay to the Gulf of Lion
Head of mission: Jean-François Ghiglione. The objective was to evaluate the role of rivers in the transport of microplastics from the continental environment to the oceans. Filtrations, CTD, Plankton Net tows and Niskin bottle sampling.
Feb. - March 2019 PERLE 2, 1 month, Eastern Mediterranean Sea
Head of mission: Pascal Conan. Second cruise of the program PERLE (Pelagic Ecosystem Response in the Levant Experiment) which aimed to describe the formation of Levantine Intermediate Water to determine its role in the structuration of the planktonic ecosystem in the Eastern Mediterranean. Acquisition of CTD and ADCP data.
