The CEFREM is a research unit of the University of Perpignan associated with CNRS (UMR 5110). It has long been interested in the coastal environment, which brings the socio-economic problems related to human uses.
His research is focused on the topic of transfer of matter and energy at the interface of the coastal system, which includes physical exchanges of water masses, particles and elements, particularly carbon. All this activity takes place within the framework of international, national and regional programs.
Created in 1963 around a core of geologists and Sedimentologists, the laboratory has gradually opened to multidisciplinarity. This development has taken shape in 1997 with the establishment of training center and research on the marine environment (CEFREM) located in another campus building. The current team, although modest, is multidisciplinary and includes Sedimentologists, geochemists, biologists and physicists.
The CEFREM provides a complete course of instruction, the LMD marine environments of the University of Perpignan. On the other hand, it is co-accredited in the Master EVOC belongs to the Graduate School on Biology, Environmental Science and Engineering of the University of Perpignan.
